Description
The IT Senior Officer/ Specialist serves two functions within QRF: to ensure that computer hardware, software, networks, and servers work consistently and correctly and to maintain the IT infrastructure and security within QRF’s network.
Requirements
- Manage the day-to-day operations of QRF’s computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair and ensure that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained in addition to applying revisions to host system firmware and software.
- Work with vendors to assist in support activities.
- Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission-critical host computer resources.
- Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of QRF’s operating systems and based applications.
- Manage the data centre and computer systems, including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system.
- Investigate and diagnose network problems.
- Provide recommendations on improving QRF's IT systems.
- Configuration and installation of IT solutions.
- Assist co-workers with daily IT needs.
- Set up new users and manage security, passwords, and backups.
- Monitor the Internet and email usage of foundation employees.
- Upgrade the network infrastructure.
- Administer network and data security, including directory, group policy, firewalls, antivirus, email security, etc.
- Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
- Represent the department in meetings/ committees as assigned by the direct manager.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the direct manager.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in related field
- A bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
